The purpose of our group is to:
Meet artisans and share gourd art interests;
See and use various tools and review inspiring books;
Teach and learn new skills, techniques, and do projects;
Discuss South Carolina Gourd Society and American Gourd Society news and other
recent gourding events.
Leaves falling, nippy mornings, and thoughts of the holidays approach! Our
patch has been exceptionally busy the past few months! From Oklahoma to Aiken's
Makin's to the newly formed Arts Association of Ridge Springs (AARS), our
members have educated newcomers and visitors about gourds, and the artistic
techniques used on nature's canvas! Our patch has learned several techniques
during our meetings. It is amazing how gourds can bring generations together.
Our members range in age from eight to eighty, spanning three
generations of gourd enthusiasts learning techniques, having fun, and amazing
each other with fabulous results! We are having our
December meeting the SECOND Saturday of the month. Our February 2009 meeting is
pyrography. Check the website for more
detailed information. Contact the patch leader to schedule what you want to
teach, or would like to learn in 2009.
